Digitalisation process well underway

As of December 2004 more than 1,000 digitised images are now available, with more on the way.  The ultimate aim of this is to allow users to browse images on-line. Further information on how to access images is available on the WTP How to Order page.

Various transport themes are covered, specifically: Roads, Public Transport, Green Modes, Traffic Management Measures, Transport Planning, Alternatively Fuelled Vehicles, Transport Behaviour, Transport Planning Methods, Pollution and some Generic Location shots.

Worldwide coverage

Geographically, the collection is divided into four distinct zones: London, Rest of the UK, Rest of Europe, and Rest of the World.

Going strong for more than 5 years

WorldTransportPictures was established in April 1999 by Marcus Enoch, a lecturer in Transport Studies at Loughborough University, with the help of colleague at The Open University, Stephen Potter. They have since been joined by Sally Cairns, a research fellow at University College London. 

In the five years since, WTP has regularly contributed images to several transport policy publications, including Surveyor, Parking Review, Town and Country Planning, Janes Urban Transport, Traffic Engineering and Control, and Transit, as well as LTT, as well as to local authorities, universities, consultants and private individuals.
